Croatia sees more tourist arrivals than last year

Croatia saw 12.4 per cent more tourist arrivals this June than in the same month of 2006 and 12.7 per cent more in the first half of this year than in the same period last year, according to figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Monday.

The number of overnight stays in June was 13.07 million, or five per cent more than in June 2006, while in the first half of the year it rose about seven per cent.

The number of domestic holiday-makers was 215,800 in June and 827,600 in the first six months of the year, up 14.7 and 11.3 per cent respectively compared with last year. Domestic tourists spent 691,100 nights in June (14.9 per cent increase) and 2.12 million nights in the first half of the year (up 12 per cent compared with 2006).

In June, Croatia was visited by 1.34 million foreign tourists, or 12 per cent more than in the same month of 2006, while their number in the first six months of the year was 2.71 million. The number of foreign overnight stays was 6.47 million in June (up 4.3 per cent) and 10.95 million in the first half of the year (up 7.2 per cent). (Hina)
